My Story

When I was first introduced to the Local Surge here as an Entity Elevation member, I was filled with equal parts excitement and intimidation.

This was a total game changer, for sure, but what a dreadful process. Seeing the final version of that nearly ten page schema file and thinking about the looming carpal tunnel syndrome to come had me paralyzed.

More than anything, I wanted to do this. I came to this group with a goal in mind. My intentions were laser focused on getting all that I could out of learning from what were no doubt the best SEO minds I have ever encountered.

But this was a bottleneck. I needed a process, one that would allow me to tame the beast and allow my team and I to produce surges at a pace that could keep up with my clients’ demand and my own ambitious designs.

So I set out on a mission, one that would take me the better part of a year to fulfill and test my ability to optimize production, the result of which I share with you all here now.

How Is My Approach Different?

I have coined the term, City Surge Stack, and this is the process I share in great detail in my training. 

So what is it?

My goal was to take my clients’ main set of keywords and rank them in Google Maps as far and wide as possible. Proximity filters were the enemy, so I decided to put surges to the test, but with a twist. I created upwards of twenty-plus geo landing pages per project, supported them with surges, and saw some pretty interesting results. 

As you can imagine, this volume presented quite a challenge. My projects needed a minimum of twenty surges. Talk about ambitious. For this, I would need a system that would allow my team to produce at a rapid-fire pace.

This is my system. Not just the one that I started with, but the dream version with all the refinements and upgrades. If no one but me benefited from this, I would still invest all the time and energy it took to produce my system simply because this is my agency’s single biggest edge.

Meet the Darrel Dressel

For those of you who are familiar with the great Bob Newhart, you know full well to expect another Darrel. I guess you can say we show up in pairs. That’s me. I’m the other Darrel. Hi.

I’ve been with EE for nearly two whole years, and admittedly, I didn’t start off where I am now— not even close.

For the longest time, I was happy to know that this thing we call the “Surge” was a thing. My curiosity was fulfilled, and for a time, that was sufficient. My knowledge was growing and growing simply by being here, but my execution was nowhere near where it needed to be to truly get the most out of what I was learning. 

We learn some high-level stuff here, and putting it all together into a workable process—well, that was the rub. I eventually got honest with myself. I had to put this into practice, or else I was just wasting my own time and money. 

When I finally pushed myself to see what I was capable of, I must say I surprised myself. Perhaps there are other systems out there that are in use by other members. I’m not sure how anyone other than myself produces these things, but when I shared what I was developing with Clinton and Daryl, it was clear that I was doing something different.
